My Five Favourite Films: Tom Hanks

Known as the Jimmy Stewart of his time, Tom Hanks is one of modern-Hollywood's most celebrated actors, and with his nice guy personality, and versatile acting chops, it isn't hard to see why. Though his career got off to a bumpy start in the 70's, by the late 80's, Hanks was one seriously indemand guy. That started with the surprise mega-hit Big, which went on to become the 4th highest grossing film of 1988, and earned Hanks his first of five Academy Award nominations (Of which, he would win two: back-to-back Oscars for the films Philadelphia (1993) and Forrest Gump (1994)). Although his popularity has fallen since the 90's, Hanks remains one of Cinema's most trusted thespians. No matter how bad the movie is, you can count on Hanks to turn in a stellar performance. Here are my five favourite Tom Hanks Films:

5.) Big (1988)

"I wish I were big."

4.) A League of Their Own (1992)

"Are you crying? Are you crying? ARE YOU CRYING? There's no crying! THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!"

3.) The Green Mile (1999)

"I just can't see God putting a gift like that in the hands of a man that would kill a child."

2.) Toy Story (1995)

"The word I'm searching for, I can't say, because there are preschool toys present."

1.) Forrest Gump (1994)

"My Momma always said life was like a box of chocolates... You never know what you're gonna get."
